Monor, az ezer pince városa

10 MONOR. OUR TOWN. WE ARE BUILDING IT. The town’s public spaces have been constantly renewed since the change of regime, but a truly spectacular development began in Monor in the early 2010s. Themodern small-town appearance since the renovation of the town centre which ended in 2013, is complemented by the early 20th century townscape, and the renewed public spaces in the growing area also help to expand the central functions of the settlement. The next big step was the renovation of Lake Kis and the surrounding Tavas Park in 2014, followed by the reconstruction of the town’s playgrounds. Themanagement of the town places great emphasis on children’s cultural entertainment opportunities and for that very reason new toys have been placed on the playground next to Lake Kis and Balassi Street as well. One of the important venues for adult holiday-makers is St. Orbán Square at the foot of Strázsa Hill. After the renevation, which started in 2016, a space suitable for cultural events and fairs was developed. Following its extension in 2021, putting a new RENEWED public places playground and adventure park into operationmade this area a real family excursion place. At the same time, the local government is continuously developing the area around the Strázsa Hill Lookout Tower, which offers a great panorama of the Great Plain stretching to the south and the Budamountain ranges in the direction of the capital. For the convenience of the residents, the road renovation programme has been going on for years, thanks to which in 2021 unprecedented road construction took place in the town, although several re-paved road sections were handed over to the road users every year before that. Year by year pedestrian traffic is made easier by construction of sidewalks, with nearly twenty kilometres of footpaths completed in the town in just a few years. The construction of modern and safe car parks near the institutions has begun and will continue in the coming years.
