20 MONOR. OUR TOWN. WE ARE BUILDING IT. In 2018, with the support of the Government of Hungary, the really old wish of the Monorians could be TOWN sports hall realized: the Town Sports Hall was completed. The new community place created by the well-thought-out design has become an excellent site for other programmes apart from sports. More than 4 000 m2 facility features a 968 m2 sports parquet floor, making it suitable for arranging indoor football, volleyball, handball and basketball matches. Teams have at their disposal a 144 m2 warmup room, six changing rooms and a medical room, while a 984-seat grandstand, a VIP room, a cloakroom, a buffet and car parks ensure convenient conditions for spectators. In the first year of its operation the internationally renowned TelekomVeszprém and Pick-Szeged men’s, Győr-Audi ETO and Ferencváros women’s handball teams, SopronBasket women’s basketball team entered the field at town sports hall. Among other things the international World Cup competitions in gymnastics and the European Cup in karate contests were held here. Light music concert and cultural programmes were also a great success at the new site. Irie Maffia, Neoton, Edda, Carthago, Caramel, Follow the Flow, Wellhello and ExperiDance have performed in the hall.
