Monor, az ezer pince városa

6 MONOR. OUR TOWN. WE ARE BUILDING IT. Monor is located between the Danube and the Tisza rivers, where Gödöllő Hills meet the Great Hungarian Plain. The town lies 25 km from the confines of Budapest and Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In 2020 the national freeway network reached Monor, when the construction of the M4 (E60) freeway bypassing the town from the north was completed. It was a significant step forward in terms of the convenience of local operators and the public. Monor is crossed by one of the busiest railway lines in the country, the 100a Budapest–Cegléd–Szolnok line, which is decisive in the town’s public transportation. Equally important is the bus service, which is extended in the catchment area of Monor and approaches Budapest on two routes. Currently, Monor has a population of over 18 000 people in 6 200 households. The town covers a territory of 48,31 km2, its highest point being Strázsa Hill (190 m), which got its name from the fact that in the past it was an observation point from where the villagers were spying out Turkish soldiers raiding the area. A well-developed network of cycle paths greatly improves intra-urban transport options. At present, cyclists can use separate lanes running along Kossuth Lajos Street from the town centre to the marketplace, all along Ady Endre Street and Kistói Street. It is planned that these cycle paths will be followed by further ones in the years to come. Budapest (Ferihegy) –M4 gyorsforgalmi út – Monor (15min.)
