12 MONOR. OUR TOWN. WE ARE BUILDING IT. LAKE KIS and Tavas park One of themost popular public places in the town is Lake Kis and the Tavas Park surrounding it. The lake with its richwildlife and the nearly 8-hectare area around it was renewed in 2014. At that time, an illuminated promenade crossing the park, an extreme cycling track, an area suitable for holding cultural events next to the sledge run, an outdoor training park and piers in the lake were built. The playground that is to be found here has also been expanded and has becomemore and more popular with families and visitors longing for relaxation. There has been a growing interest in Tavas Park as the largest inner-town place of excursion, making it clear to town leaders that further developments are needed in this area. In 2018, a pedestrian crossingwas established on the busy Kistói Road, and starting from2019, nearly a hundred new saplings have been enriching the park. During the next few years, playground toys were modernized and increased in number. Due to the everexpanding infrastructure Lake Kis and its surroundings host more andmore formal and private programmes every year. The Smart City project, which greatly improves the functioning of the town, has also brought novelties to the visitors of the Tavas Park: thus, modern solar lightingwas installed around Lake Kis, from the sledge run to the playground, in 2021.
